Magill Strategies is a full-service Government Consulting firm based in Tallahassee, Florida, and focused on government at all levels in Florida. The firm is led by President Jim Magill, whose extensive experience working the halls of Florida’s Capitol dates back to 1985. He served in multiple capacities for Governor Bob Martinez, from the Governor’s Press Office to work as Director of Scheduling, Deputy Campaign Manager, and Congressional Affairs aide in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. He went on to serve Florida House Republican Leadership before being named Director of State Senate Campaigns for the Republican Party of Florida, where he orchestrated a Republican majority in both 1994 and 1996. He then entered the private sector, becoming a lobbyist in 1997 representing a wide variety of clients. Magill also remained active in Florida politics, assisting various candidates including Governor Jeb Bush. In December 2002, he joined Bush’s administration as Director of Legislative Affairs, a post he held for two years. He was at the forefront of numerous major issues, including tort reform, education reform, and economic development.

Magill then returned to the private sector, where helped a range of clients achieve their goals at both the Executive and Legislative levels. From crafting legislation and ensuring its passage, to shaping the agency regulations to implement the changes, Magill used his inherent understanding of the process to shape policy over 38 legislative sessions. In short, Jim Magill brings his clients a rarely matched ability to make things happen.

• Trademark Metals Recycling and the Florida Recyclers Association: Successfully included industry entities in existing sales tax breaks for manufacturing.
• Pinch a Penny Pools: Successfully broadened Florida Statutes to create a provision for pool servicing contractors.

• USF Health: Helped secure funding over multiple many years for various priority projects.
• Florida Public Transportation Association: Worked with Executive Branch agencies to secure $59 million for electric public transit buses through the Volkswagen settlement.

Magill also has extensive experience in planning and coordinating political events, including work for three Governors, two gubernatorial inaugurations, and important advance work for three Presidents and three Vice Presidents.

His campaign experience, particularly at the legislative level, gives him insights to establish and build relationships with new candidates for seats in the Legislature. He has vast experience running political action committees and knows how to use them to help new members in their rise to leadership positions.
